W3C's first virtual 2020 TPAC event will focus on collaborative meetings that gather the community to create momentum and collective brainstorming.
Coil & Grant for the Web are hosting a series of breakout sessions about web monetization and revenue models for the web.
There has been a lot of discussion and experimentation looking at alternatives to advertising for monetization on the Web. In this panel we aim to explore these alternative models, debate whether or not advertising still has a role to play, and discuss the potential for standards to enable a broader set of business models. Our panel will explore these questions in this session, followed by open discussion with attendees. Session took place on 26 October, 2020.
A deep dive into Grant for the Web's advocacy of the (proposed) Web Monetization standard with opportunity for audience questions.
Session #1 took place on 28 October from 16:00–17:00 UTC.
